Attorney Admissions Fund

Grant Process and Guidelines

Through its Attorney Admissions Fund, the Federal Court is delighted to have been able to assist with funding 13 projects for the area bar associations and law schools in 2012.

The demand for funding from our Court has increased greatly with requests from several law schools, bar associations and other organizations in the Northern District. Changes in our Program that took effect in 2010 will still be in place for 2013.

The Court's Attorney Admissions Fund Committee will meet on January 22, April 22, August 12, and November 18, 2013, at which time grant applications will be reviewed and recommended for approval by the full Court. The deadline for submitting applications to Geri M. Smith, Clerk of Court, is not later than ten days before each meeting.

As a general rule, applications should be submitted not later than three months prior to the date of the event for which funding is sought.

We ask that your request focus on the purpose for the grant as outlined in our notice and application.

While we were fortunate to be able to satisfy many of the requests in past years, this will not be the case in 2013. We are receiving many more requests, and our budgeted amount is not keeping pace with the demand. We appreciate your efforts at presenting events that accomplish the purpose of these funds - namely, to benefit the bench and bar.
