July 21-27, 2013 has been designated as National Pretrial, Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Week, which is dedicated to showing appreciation for the efforts of and services provided by community justice professionals throughout the United States. This year's theme is "Changing Lives, Building Futures." http://www.appa-net.org/eweb/Resources/PPPSW_2013/.

In observance of this week, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio recognizes the work of our Federal Pretrial Services and Probation officers as indicated in the attached Proclamation, which I have signed on behalf of the court as Chief Judge. Please join me in saluting the members of our Pretrial Services and Probation Office.

The Pretrial Services and Probation Office in each location will recognize and conduct their individual celebrations.

Chief Judge Solomon Oliver, Jr.

Internships

The U.S. Pretrial Services and Probation Office for the Northern District of Ohio has a formal internship program and seeks diversity in its participants. Generally, we seek undergraduate and post-graduate students majoring/minoring in criminal justice, the social sciences and other related fields of study. Interns work in the areas of Pretrial Services, Presentence Investigations or Post Conviction Supervision. There may also be involvement in special projects, but always under the direction of an officer, in an office setting, in one of our four offices.

  • These are unpaid positions and interns work from 16 to 24 hours per week.
  • Security screening is required.
  • The primary goals are attaining individual work experiences and fulfilling school requirements, with a secondary goal of providing services to the U.S. Pretrial Services and Probation Office.

Interested persons should submit a resume and cover-letter postmarked not later than April 1st for summer internships, August 20th for fall/winter semester and December 1st for winter/spring semester. Send to:
