NextGen CM/ECF Information

On February 10, 2020, the Case Management/Electronic Case Filing System (CM/ECF) of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio will be upgraded to the Next Generation of CM/ECF (NextGen). This will affect all “Registered CM/ECF Users” (attorneys; pro se parties registered to file, view or receive service of documents through the CM/ECF system; members of the media registered for e-service). NextGen will include “Central Sign-On,” a new functionality that will allow registered CM/ECF users to access all NextGen courts to which they have access (appellate, bankruptcy, and district) using one PACER login and password.

The CM/ECF system will be offline at noon on Friday, February 7, 2020 in order to make the transition to NextGen. Pursuant to General Order 2020-02 filings will be accepted via email to nextgenfilings@ohnd.uscourts.gov between noon on Friday, February 7, and 11:59 pm on Sunday, February 9, 2020.

Registered CM/ECF users should prepare for the upgrade now by obtaining their own individual PACER account or upgrading their existing individual PACER account. Your PACER account credentials will be used for logging in to CM/ECF, and therefore you MUST have your own individual PACER account. Registered CM/ECF users will not be able to use shared PACER accounts after February 10, 2020. Follow Steps 1 through 3 below on or BEFORE February 7, 2020. (Note: If you currently e-file in any of the courts that are already on NextGen, then you have an upgraded PACER account and no action is required until February 10, 2020, at which time you can begin with Step 4.)
